Dr Sudha Ramalingam

She is a Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Registrar-Research at PSGIMSR and heads the PSG Center for Research and Bioethics. She has completed her Postgraduate diploma in Bioethics from ICMR-NIH Fogarty funded program in India. She also holds a fellowship in Medical Education from FAIMER in addition to her postdoctoral fellowships in genetics and genetic epidemiology from Stanford and University of Chicago respectively. She was a Fulbright visiting scientist at the Harvard School of Public Health between 2014-15. Her main areas of interests in Bioethics are ethical issues of Genetic testing, Bio-banking and Public Health Ethics. Currently she has been awarded the International Fellowship in Medical Education to pursue her Masters in Health Professions Education.

Dr K. Shanthakumari

Professor of Pathology, PSG IMS&R completed MBBS (1990) from Coimbatore Medical College & M.D. Pathology (2000) from Dr. AL Mudaliar Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Taramani. Joined the Department of Pathology, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in 2000. She has served in various divisions of Pathology. Developed cytopathology division and special pathology (including immunohistochemistry) division. She is currently incharge of surgical pathology division. Has participated in various international, national and institutional activities. She has completed her ICMR-NIH long term 10 week training program held at Bangalore in the year 2007 on Bioethics and now is a member of DCRB. She is also a member of MET and involved in various academic development activities of the institute. She is the Co-ordinator of MCI-MEU faculty development workshops and currently HOD MET. She has many national and international publications to her credit. Participated as a resource person ICMR-NIH/ PSG IMS&R/Workshop on Research Ethics conducted at PSGIMS&R.

Dr D. Vijaya

Professor in Biochemistry, member Institutional Human Ethics Committee, PSGIMS&R. She has received her PhD from the Department Life Sciences at Bharathiyar University. Her main fields of interest include Diagnostics in Clinical Biochemistry, Bioethics and implementation of Quality Management System. Her areas of research include Diabetes Mellitus and Cardiovascular Disease. She has published about twenty papers in National and International Journals.

Dr Suvetha Kannappan

Dr.K.Suvetha graduated from Coimbatore Medical College in 2001. She obtained here Masters Degree in Community Medicine from Sri Ramachandra Medical College in 2005. She was awarded the Dr.Kesavalu Educational trust gold medal for the best out going student in M.D,Community Medicine for the year 2005 from Sri Ramachandra University. Since 2005 she has been working in the Department of Community Medicine, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research. She has done her 2 year Fellowship in medical education(FAIMER) sponsored by ECFMG, USA. She also guides numerous research projects of under graduate students. Her areas special interest are in occupational health and diabetes. She has completed a 6 month course in Clinical Diabetes endorsed by American Diabetes Association. She has 10 research publications in national and international journal Has presented papers in national and international conferences.

Dr Anil C Mathew

Dr. Anil C Mathew obtained his MSc degree in Biostatistics(1988) from Christian Medical College, Vellore University of Madras under the guidance of Prof.PSS Sundar Rao and PhD in Biostatistics from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore under the guidance of Prof.S Krishnamoorthy He started his career as Assistant Statistician in the“Rheumatic fever-Rheumatic heart disease control project’ of the Indian Council of Medical Research at All India Hear Foundation, New Delhi in 1988. and afterwards joined in PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore as Assistant Professor in 1989,as Associate Professor in 2003 and as Professor in 2008. His has been actively engaged in teaching and research in applied biostatistics for three decades which include teaching Biostatistics and Clinical epidemiology to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students; guide for MSc (Biostatistics) students; for MD/ MS students;external examiner for PhD/MSc students and reviewer/member of editorial committee of various national / international journals include American Journal of Epidemiology and BMJ online. He was an invited participant in the INDO-US workshop series on Clinical Research organized by U S Embassy, New Delhi 2007- 2009; statistical expert for preparing the course materials of the Applied Bio-statistics course of Indira Gandhi National Open University, Govt. of India in 2011; statistical expert of the Task force committee on Geriatric research, Indian Council of Medical Research in 2011; member of the Expert Award committee of International Biometric Society Indian Region in 2012;statistical expert for the INCLEN/ WHO Penta study in 2013; General Secretary Indian Society for Medical Statistics(ISMS) 2014-16,International Biometric Society Indian Region Correspondent 2015-16;Visiting Professor Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman in 2015, member of the Executive council and award committee ISMS 2017-19 and member of the Executive Council International Biometric Society Indian Region 2017-18.

Dr S. Karthikeyan

Dr.S.Karthikeyan is an Assistant Professor in Dept of Community Medicine in PSGIMSR from 2013.He finished his MD Community Medicine from PSGIMSR.He is also completed M.MED (FAMILY MEDICNE) from THE TAMIL NADU Dr.MGR MEDICAL UNIVERSITY. He is a Faculty in Research Methodology Workshop for DNB Post Graduate Students held in PSGIMS &R Conducted by NATBOARD, India. He is interested in statistis and guiding undergraduate Post graduate, Paramedical students in sample size calculation and statistical analysis using SPSS. His area of interest is non- communicable disease like Diabetes, Hypertension

Dr S. Kavitha

She is an Associate Professor in Department of Biochemistry. She graduated from Government Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore and JIPMER, Puducherry. She also holds PG Diploma in Bioethics. She is a resource person for various research methodology workshops conducted at PSGIMSR. She is a member of Research Committee at PSGIMSR. Her areas of interests are research in Metabolic Syndrome, Research ethics and Medical education.

Dr G. Subhashini

She is an Assistant Professor in Community Medicine. She holds an MD in Community Medicine with a PG Diploma in Bioethics. She is a resource person for various research methodology workshops conducted for undergraduates and post graduates at PSGIMSR and also for DNB students. She has complete her training in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research at the World Health Organization(WHO),Geneva, Switzerland. Her areas of interests are adolescent health and reproductive health research

Dr Vasantha Muthuswamy

Dr. Vasantha Muthuswamy retired as Senior Deputy Director General(Scientist G) and Chief of Division of Basic Medical Sciences, Traditional medicine & Bioethics and Division of Reproductive Health & Nutrition from Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) in 2008 after three decades of service in different capacities. A medical graduate from R.G.Kar Medical college, Kolkata and MD in Obstet./Gynae. from Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology,Madras , she joined the ICMR as a Talent Search scholar in 1975 . After a stint at Toxaemia Research Unit, Vani Vilas hospital,Bangalore she moved to Division of Contraceptive Research at the Institute for Research in Reproduction,Mumbai andthen to ICMR Headquarters office,New Delhi in 1982. She was also Director, Institute of Immunohaematology, Mumbai for two years. She has played a major role in the area of Drug development including Traditional medicine, Genetics and genomics, Haematological disorders, Ethics of animal and human experimentation, promotion of research by medical students etc. A WHO Fellow at the Kennedy Institute for Ethics ,Georgetown University, Washington DC, she is well recognised for bringing out the ICMR’s “Ethical guidelines for biomedical research on human subjects “ in 2000 and the revised version “Ethical guidelines for research on human participants “in 2006. The other ICMR guidelines she prepared are Guidance document for Animal experimentation, Guidelines for Stem cell research and therapy , Guidelines for Safety evaluation of food derived from GE plantsand Guidelines for Good Clinical laboratory practices etc. As the Founder Secretary of Forum for Ethics Review Committees in Asia Pacific(FERCAP)for ten years , since 2000 she was a faculty in Bioethics and GCP workshops in more than 30 countries Dr. Muthuswamy received Lifetime achievement Award from Indian Society for Clinical Research(ISCR), National Bioethics Conference (NBC) , FERCAP and Yenopoya University. In 2013 she served as member of the Ranjit Roychoudhury Committee of the GOI for Policy guidelines for Clinical trials approved by Drug regulatory authorities in India.She is currently President of FERCI(Forum for Ethics Review Committees in India) and Advisor at Centre for Clinical research and Ethics at PSGIMS&R, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Dr Nandini K Kumar

She is a Graduate and Post-graduate in Clinical Pathology from Trivandrum Medical College. She was involved in medical research in the Gastroenterology Department at Trivandrum and at Madras Medical College, Chennai. She also was in charge of the Liver Clinic at General Hospital, Chennai. Having joined the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) headquarters in New Delhi as a senior researcher, Dr. Kumar became a Program Officer for Traditional Medicine Research and Bioethics. In this capacity she had been a member of several ICMR national and international working groups and organized several national and international agency-sponsored workshops on ethical issues involving biomedical research and traditional medicine research. She was closely involved with activities related to the Government’s Golden Triangle Partnership Scheme related to drug development in traditional systems of medicine and other similar programs in the country concerning herbal or herbo-mineral formulations. She also had been closely involved in finalization of the ICMR Ethical Guidelines of 2000 and of 2006, especially the section on traditional medicine research, and of the Draft Guidelines on Bio-banking and Stem Cell Research and Therapy, Mental Health Research, Data Set Protection and Disaster Related Research. . Dr. Kumar is also a Fogarty Fellow graduate in bioethics (International Stream), from the University of Toronto. As a Vice President of the Forum for Ethics Review Committees in India, a National Chapter of the Forum for Ethics Review Committees in Asia Pacific, she is involved in ethics committee related activities of India. She is an Additional professor and T M A Pai endowment chair in Bioethics at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.

Dr Nabeel M K

Dr Nabeel Mangadan-Konath is a public health and development professional with over 15 years of diverse experience including clinical practice and medical education; health systems and policy research; tele-health and informatics; and capacity building and knowledge management. A medical doctor by professional training, early part of his career was in tertiary care teaching hospitals. During this period, in addition to clinical and academic responsibilities, he was involved in Public Health and related Capacity Building initiatives including those as a Resource Person for the State AIDS Control Society. He was also involved with innovative initiatives such as Tele-health and Medical Informatics. Since 2008, he worked as a Research Associate and then as National Programme Officer for the United Nations (UN), in New Delhi. Subsequently, he went to the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics as a Fogarty International Fellow, funded by a grant from the United States (US) National Institutes of Health (NIH). He received his Master of Health Sciences (Bioethics) degree from the University of Toronto’s Institute of Medical Sciences. Upon his return from Canada, he is serving as a Consultant in Public Health for international and non-government organizations as well as continuing his capacity building and academic activities in Bioethics as a resource person and educator. As part of consulting work, he engages in primary and secondary research, strategic planning, evaluation, and global health diplomacy. On the academic front, he engages in activities ranging from curricular design and teaching, to conceptual research. He is based in New Delhi and is an Adjunct Professor of Bioethics (Visiting) at the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore.
