Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is a part of medicine, that involves the use of water for pain relief and treatment. The term encompasses a broad range of approaches and therapeutic methods that take advantage of the physical properties of water, such as temperature and pressure, for therapeutic purposes, to stimulate blood circulation and treat the symptoms of certain diseases.

Hip Bath/ Hip Jacuzzi

One of the most useful forms of hydrotherapy is the hip bath. As the name suggests, this mode of treatment involves only the hips and the abdominal region below the navel. For this purpose a special type of tub is used. The tub is filled with water in such a way that it covers the hips and reaches up to the navel when the patient sits in it. Four to six gallons of water is required generally for the purpose. A support may be placed under one edge to elevate it by two or three inches. Hip bath is given in cold, hot, neutral or alternate temperatures.

Spinal Spray

Spinal Spray, which is specially designed to give gentle massage to the whole spinal column. A perforated tube at the centre of the tub, sprays moderate pressured jets of hot, cold or neutral water. It is found highly effective in treatment of high blood pressure, fatigue, mental disorders, insomnia and stress.

Steam Bath

A steam room is an enclosed space with large amounts of high temperature steam, creating a high humidity environment. People sit in this room for relaxation and purported benefits to health and well being.

Sauna Bath

A sauna is a small wooden room or house designed as a place to experience dry or wet heat sessions. The lighting in a sauna is shady. The Sauna (pronounced sow-nah) has been used for centuries, not only as a place to bathe, but as a place for healing, relaxing and enjoyment.

Under Water Massage

This specialized treatment performed in the hydrotherapy tub has many applications. It increases lymphatic circulation, reduces pregnancy related water retention and soothes sore or tight muscles.

During the treatment, the therapist uses a water jet hose to target the lymphatic system and specific areas of the body with gentle or deep pressure targeted to the individual treatment. Following the massage, the treatment is completed with a hydrotherapy soak to further enhance the benefits and cool down, aiding in circulation.

Foot and Arm Bath

Foot and arm baths are intended to increase blood circulation or lessen it. Thus the monitored blood circulation can produce warmth, sweating or reduce the temperature of a particular part. In these baths either the arms or feet or both are immersed in the water inside the tubs up to above elbows and calf muscles respectively sitting on a stool.

Foot Reflexology

Reflexology is a therapeutic method of relieving pain by stimulating predefined pressure points on the feet and hands. This controlled pressure alleviates the source of the discomfort.
