Physiology

Physiology is the study of the functions of the body. Each course in the curriculum emphasizes an integrated study of human physiology. A strong emphasis is being placed on teaching, and the academic staff is dedicated and experienced in their field, committed to producing the best out of the students. The strength of the Department of Physiology lies in the outstanding faculty who take pride in a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. The faculty includes Professor and Head, 4 Professors, 2 Associate Professors , 3 Assistant Professors and 9tutors. The department is actively engaged in a range of educational activities, including both classroom teaching across the campus, as well as the training of high quality graduate and post graduate students.

Webinar titled “Sports and Science” was organized in commemoration of world athletic day on May 7th 2021.Eminent speakers, Dr. Muthu Prathiba MD, professor physiology, Saveetha medical college delivered a talk on Health and Exercise. Dr Vijayalakshmi MD,FDFM , Sports and Neuro Physiologist, Neuro foundation, Salem, gave her inputs on Physiological Assessment of cardiovascular function in sports person and Dr.Nithya Manoj MD ,DPMR,FIPM, HOD, Rehabilitation medicine GMKMCH, Salem shed light on Physiological Assessment of musculoskeletal and neurological function in sports person. More than 90 participants from various medical and paramedical disciplines participated in the webinar. e-certificate was issued to the participants

• Webinar titled “Tumor Physiology” was organized on 21st January 2022.
Dr.T.M. Subbarao, Prinicipal, PSGIMS&R delivered keynote address, Dr.Viji Devanand, President Association of Physiologists Tamilnadu gave her inaugural address. Eminent speakers, Dr. Jeyalakshmi Lingaraj MD, Professor Physiology, KMCH Medical College delivered a talk on “Physiological mechanisms of Tumor cell Invasion and Migration”. Dr Subash Chezian, Consultant Physician, BMT, MIOT,Chennai gave his inputs on “Pathophysiology of Tumor” and Dr. Kishore Kumar Consultant Physician, BMT, MIOT, Chennai shed light on “Cancer treatment Update & Research opportunities”. More than 50 participants from various medical and paramedical disciplines across the state participated in the webinar. e -certificate was issued to the participants.
