Professional Information
She completed her MBBS from Thanjavur Medical College and MD in Physiology from Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai. She is a FAIMER Fellow with distinction and has completed the International FAIMER Competency-based Education (I-FACE) program. She is currently an International FAIMER Institute for Medical Education (IFIME) Fellow.
A passionate medical educator and clinician, Dr. Deepalakshmi serves as the In-charge of the Gastrointestinal Motility Laboratory at PSG Hospitals, where she performs and supervises advanced esophageal and anorectal manometry procedures. She received specialized training in gastrointestinal manometry at SGPGI, Lucknow, and has established expertise in gastrointestinal motility disorders and autonomic nervous system physiology.
Her academic contributions include 28 publications in indexed national and international journals, 11 invited lectures, and presentations at several national conferences. She has received Best Paper Awards for her research in gastrointestinal physiology and medical education and has been recognized as National Faculty by the Association of Colon & Rectal Surgeons of India. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Association of Physiologists of Tamil Nadu and is a life member of the Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India (APPI), the
Association of Physiologists of India (API), and the Association of Physiologists of Tamil Nadu (APT).
Her major areas of research include gastrointestinal motility disorders, autonomic nervous system physiology, cardiovascular physiology, and medical education.
