National Basic Life Support (BLS) & CPR Day was successfully organized by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Coimbatore Branch, in association with the Department of Pediatrics, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PSG IMSR), Coimbatore, on 24 July 2026 at the Lecture Gallery, PSG IMSR.

The programme, conducted under the theme “CPR for All: Save a Life, Be a Hero”, aimed to promote life-saving skills and increase public awareness on the importance of immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Guided by the slogan “Learn CPR, Teach CPR, Spread CPR,” the event brought together students, faculty members, and healthcare professionals for an intensive hands-on training programme.

The inaugural session featured welcome remarks, addresses by distinguished guests Dr. TM Subbarao (Principal PSGIMSR) Mr. Saravanan (Inspector of Police E2 Police Station) , Mr.Anandakumar ( ADSP) felicitation of BLS instructors . Expert-certified instructors demonstrated the latest Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR techniques based on current international guidelines, followed by supervised practical sessions using CPR mannequins.

A landmark achievement of the programme was the training of over 1,200+ students, making it one of the largest BLS and CPR awareness initiatives conducted in the region. The event reinforced the message that every individual can become a potential lifesaver by acquiring essential CPR skills and responding effectively during medical emergencies.

A dedicated IAP BLS Online Learning Platform was developed specifically for this initiative by Ms. Srilaya, a student developer from the Department of Computer Science, National Model School. The platform enabled participants to complete the entire pre-training learning process digitally before attending the practical sessions.
