Library Infrastructure

• The Prime objective of the Central Library is to provide a wide range of current, accurate and authoritative information from a vast selection of print and electronic resources to foster scholarly education, research and informational needs of the user.
• The Central Library has a sprawling space of 57720 sq.ft distributed in 3 floors in exclusive Library block.
• There are over 43000 text and reference books spanning all the disciplines of medicine and research. The library subscribes to 809 Indian and International Journals (print and online inclusive).
• The Various service of the library includes Circulation service, Reference service, Document Delivery Service, Reprographic service etc.
• The Digital library segment is augmented by a dedicated 4 Mbps broad band internet service. The institute has subscribed to reputed health science database such as OVID, ProQuest Medical Library, Clinical Key, UpToDate Evidence Based Information, BMJ Case Reports, Scopus, Micromedex, Expert consult, and Cochrane Library.
• The Library offers free membership to all of its students (UG, PG, & Research Scholars), faculty and alumni.
• The Library works on all days from 8 a.m to 12 p.m (Midnight). The Library remains open on all national and local public holidays.
• The housekeeping operation of the Central library is fully automated with bar code application.
• Library rules are implemented for better functioning of the library.
• The library team is headed by well qualified Senior Librarian, who is assisted by librarian, assistant librarian, library assistant, office assistant and service assistant.

The primary mission of the PSG IMS&R Central Library is to provide the information services and access to bibliographic and full text digital and printed resources in the field of Medical and Allied Health Sciences to the scholarly and informational needs of the users. It also supports the educational and research programme of the institute by providing physical and intellectual access to information, consistent with the present and anticipated educational and research programmes of the institute. Accordance with the objectives of the institute, library provides a wide range of current, accurate and authoritative information from a vast selection of print and electronic resources using state-of-the-art technology.

The three storied new Central Library Block of PSG IMS & R is located in between Medical and Paramedical College. Total area of the Library is 57720 sq.ft. It has the capacity to accommodate 900 students at a time. Besides the comfortable seating and reading environment, the library is well equipped with modern facilities such as access to internet and web resources including online journals and e-books. Library is providing a growing range of databases available in electronic form on the campus network. All the library services are automated. The library has fully computerized its collection, which could be accessible through OPAC. There is a separate Audio-Visual Cum Video Conferencing room, Digital Library, Group study area and Own Book study area in the library. The library has all the facilities for the students to learn. The PSG IMS &R Central Library is committed to provide a world-class information support to its users.
